Over two hundred Peruvian women entrepreneurs took part on April 11th in the Third Annual WEConnect International Forum held in Lima.
The event, “Incorporating Women into the Global Value Chains,” also gathered executives from leading global corporations and representatives from multilateral institutions. Senior Foreign Officer Jeffrey Hovenier attended in representation of the US Embassy.
“We doubled the number of participants from the 2nd forum last year. Peruvian female business owners are an outstanding example of determination and entrepreneurship!” said Belisa de las Casas, Director for Latin America, WEConnect International.
The program featured a panel on how to understand procurement processes. The panel included Monica Lomba of Dell Latin America, Carolina Rouillon of Sodexo Peru, Carolina Costa of Pfizer Peru and Manual del Carpio of IBM.
There was also a matchmaking session and an expo where 18 women entrepreneurs certified by WEConnect International displayed their products and services.
The forum in Lima, which followed similar events in Brazil and Chile, was generously supported by the Inter-American Development Bank and the Rockefeller Foundation.
The event was widely covered by local media outlets.
