According to a recent press release issued by Walmart earlier today, nine multinational corporations — including WEConnect International members The Coca-Cola Company, ExxonMobil, Johnson&Johnson, PepsiCo, Procter & Gamble, and Walmart — have joined together in a collaborative effort to track and report sourcing from self-identified women-owned business as well as women’s business enterprises certified by WBENC and WEConnect International.
“Creating economic opportunity and growth is central to who we are as a company,” said Doug McMillon, president and CEO of Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. “We are proud to be part of this important initiative, and together we can make an even bigger impact in elevating these successful women-owned businesses. Our customers care where products are sourced, and we believe supporting women-owned businesses helps us put innovative products on our shelves while helping these businesses thrive and grow.”
In 2014, Walmart worked with WBENC and WEConnect International to create the Women Owned Logo, which can be used by any certified women’s business enterprise. More than 120 WEConnect International certified businesses around the world currently use the logo on their products, website and promotional materials. These businesses include:
