(March 31, 2017) Founder and CEO of the Act • 1 and WEConnect International Ambassador Janice Bryant-Howroyd announced Kalpana Anantaraman as the winner of the Fastest Growing Women’s Business Enterprise Award at the inaugural WEConnect International Gala on March 30 in Washington, DC. The award recognizes WEConnect International certified WBEs who have successfully started and quickly scaled their new businesses.
Kalpana has over 20 years of experience in quality technology solutions. After working with the company in Atlanta, Georgia, she returned to India in 2009 to lead the Avion Systems business in India as the CEO. Prior to joining Avion, Kalpana was with General Electric for 14 Years serving in Techno-Commercial, Six Sigma Black Belt and Leadership Roles for GE Energy and GE Infrastructure, USA. She has a Master of Science degree in electrical engineering from the University of Tennessee and a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
Kalpana has been a part of the WEConnect International network in India for several years. Her local Country Director, Parul Soni, is a renowned speaker, author and a serial entrepreneur, with an in-depth understanding of divergent challenges met in the cause of community empowerment. He specializes in social development issues and CSR initiatives globally.
Kalpana’s sister Kanchana Raman accepted her award on her behalf. She thanked their father for raising them “like sons.”
