WECONNECT INTERNATIONAL IN SINGAPORE HOSTS CORPORATE ROUNDTABLE

On February 14th, 2019, WEConnect International held a corporate roundtable entitled “The Gold Standard of Global Supplier Diversity” at the American Chamber of Commerce in Singapore. The event was attended by procurement representatives from 12 corporations and one government entity.

Rachel Williams, Corporate Engagement and Project Manager at WEConnect International, provided an overview of global supplier diversity and the work that WEConnect International is doing across our networks to enable sustainable market-access for women-owned businesses. Each of the representatives then spoke on their own trajectory in the supplier diversity journey and highlighted key challenges. This included the challenges that SMEs might face in engaging with conditional compliance regulations and regulatory frameworks, the inability to break down large contracts for smaller businesses to participate, finding suppliers who can scale at a rapid rate, etc.

This was followed by a showcase of the P&G Women Entrepreneurs Development Program both globally and in Singapore, as a key example of progressive supplier development efforts.

Attendees also reviewed the Gold Standard Checklist Tool, to assess their internal policies and identify key steps forward. The roundtable event ended with networking and light refreshments.
