Leading multinational corporations and diversity champions celebrated the official launch of WEConnect at a high profile event in the House of Commons this month.
Representatives from over 35 major corporations including current members Accenture, Bank of America, Pfizer; Mastercard UK, Goldman Sachs International, Credit Suisse, Merrill Lynch and Hewlett Packard Ltd, assembled to share in the vision for the UK’s leading supplier diversity initiative.
Commenting on the WEConnect launch Joe Hill, Executive Vice-President of Bank of America said “This is not about filling quotas, from a supply chain standpoint the more diverse your supply chain is, the stronger it is”.
WEConnect is backed by the UK Government’s Women’s Enterprise Task Force (WETF). Pam Alexander, Task Force Co-Chair and Chief Executive of the South East England Development Agency said “By creating new routes to procurement opportunities, WEConnect will encourage more women to think big, expand their businesses and achieve their potential”.
The House of Commons reception was hosted by Lorely Burt MP and supported by Accenture and Bank of America.
