MAIDEN-VOYAGE.COM SCOOPS £10,000 AT ENTREPRENEURING AWARDS

(March 31, 2016) Entrepreneurial Spark’s Entrepreneuring Awards saw entrepreneurs across the UK honoured with awards to help them develop and scale their businesses. More than £250,000 was handed out to the most promising Chiclets from eSpark’s Ayrshire, Birmingham, Brighton, Bristol, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Leeds Hatcheries.

maiden-voyage.com,  a WEConnect International certified women-owned business, won the Entrepreneur of the Moment Award in the Leeds Hatchery group and was awarded the top prize of £10,000. Supported by partners Royal Bank of Scotland, NatWest and KPMG, the awards offer cash prizes aimed at helping entrepreneurs grow and scale their business.

The evening, which trended across the UK on Twitter using #EntAwards, also featured speakers from Entrepreneurial Spark’s expert team of Enablers, representatives of partners RBS and NatWest, and a special guest speaker in each Hatchery.

Mike Stephens, Enabler of Carolyn Pearson, CEO of maiden-voyage.com, had this to say about her win:

“Carolyn was chosen over the other candidates because of the way she has accelerated both herself and her business. Maiden-Voyage has the potential to disrupt a big market and make a stamp globally, and Carolyn pushes herself out of her comfort zone daily to drive this. She is strong on both vision and execution and critically has maintained the right mindset to overcome the significant headwinds which she has faced. She has totally reimagined the business over the last 12 months and now has a stronger platform which is gaining interest from investors.”

The awards, which took place at the respective Hatcheries, included a pitching competition where eight Chiclets shared their business ideas and progress so far for the chance of winning £2,000. Also up for grabs in each location were three other prizes: the #GoDo Award, Acceler8 Award and Chiclet Choice Award.
