(November 28, 2016) Executive Director of WEConnect International in Nigeria Shade Ladipo was recently featured inĀ The Guardian for her entrepreneurial spirit and contributions to women’s economic empowerment throughout the country. Says Shade:
“[WEConnect International] realizes that it is difficult for [women business owners] to grow economically or compete globally or locally. We work with big organizations that have the capacity to give them opportunity to bid for jobs. We have various training for the women all through the year. We get the big businesses to mentor the younger women or upcoming businesses.”
Shade also commented on women entrepreneurs’ potential in Nigeria:
“A woman could do well and build a business with a sound foundation. The woman is equipped to lead the economy, and even the banks say so. A bank would prefer to give loan to a woman, because she is more likely to pay back than a man, who may default. The woman could, therefore, be said to have integrity.”
