WASHINGTON, DC (PRWEB) APRIL 30, 2014
WEConnect International is pleased to announce that four corporate leaders are joining as global members of WEConnect International.
The new corporate members are beauty industry giant Estée Lauder Companies, global biopharmaceutical leader Bristol-Myers Squibb, global hospitality company Hilton Worldwide, and Genpact in India.
According to the company’s website, Hilton Worldwide’s goal is “to forge supplier relationships that reflect the cultural diversity of our portfolio of hotels. Since 2010, Hilton Worldwide has spent more than US$500 million with women and minority business enterprises.”
Through its Supplier Diversity program, Bristol-Myers Squibb articulates its belief on its website that, in order to “develop the most innovative medicines, we understand that it is vital that we obtain high quality goods, services and materials from small and diverse business enterprises.”
WEConnect International (http://www.WEConnectInternational.org) is a corporate driven global 501(c)(3) non-profit that facilitates sustainable economic growth by increasing opportunities for women-owned businesses to succeed in global value chains. WEConnect International identifies, educates, registers, and certifies women’s business enterprises based outside of the U.S. that are at least 51% owned, managed, and controlled by one or more women, and then connects them with multinational corporate buyers. WEConnect International also helps multinational corporations meet their local content sourcing goals, which is increasingly important to national policy makers who want to see trade work for SMEs as an engine for growth and job creation.
