As the glass ceiling appears to be getting thicker for women in China, there are also individuals trying to break through it, by being their own bosses.
Official data shows Chinese women are increasingly being sidelined, in the country’s economic boom. In 2011, women only made up 32 percent of China’s company directors, down from 43 percent in 2005. The pay gap also widened, with Chinese women earning 67 percent of what their male colleagues did in 2010, compared to 78 percent, in 1990.
