AMCHAM SUPPLIER DAY IN VIETNAM

WEConnect International recently presented at AmCham Supplier Day 2018 in Vietnam.

The event attracted more than 350 participants from across organizations, with a large number representing organizations in transportation & logistics, paper manufacturers, construction, hospitality, textile and garments, consulting, plastics, agriculture, banking and HR. The exhibition hall consisted of 67 exhibitors from varying sectors, including retail, industrial park, food, mechanical, medical, packaging, IT, energy, logistics, metal fab, services, textiles, construction, electronics and automotive, with about 20% being women owned. The event opened up great opportunities for businesses to display their products and find new partners.

WEConnect International was invited to present as part of the track on integrating women owned SMEs into the global value chain, alongside Arizona State University’s Dreambuilders programme and a presentation about leadership skills by a prominent local woman owned business. Key discussions that arose included the need for a more sustainable way for women to promote their businesses to the right people within cultural constraints, pressures on women to meet their family expectations, which resulted in their dropping out of the workforce or giving up on their entrepreneurial endeavours, and wider support for single mothers.
