WEConnect International’s Country Director for Turkey, Nilay Çelik, was recently featured on WOMAN TV – the first and only television channel dedicated to women. Çelik spent 45 minutes speaking with leading economist Çetin Ünsalan about the work of WEConnect International’s corporate members in Turkey that are dedicated to inclusive sourcing, with a goal to increase spend with women-owned businesses in particular.
Globally, large buyers spent only 1% with women-owned businesses and WEConnect International aims to change that through connecting its corporate member buyers with its talented network of women-owned businesses.
WEConnect International corporate members actively practicing supplier diversity and inclusion in Turkey include Accenture, Bayer, Boeing, EY, IBM, Johnson & Johnson, Marriott International, Microsoft, MSD, Procter & Gamble, and the World Bank Group’s private sector arm: the International Finance Corporation (IFC).
Çelik also discussed how other corporates can engage in supplier diversity and why it is important to their core business; the current movement in Turkey and other countries; and the obstacles that women in Turkey continue to face in winning large contracts and how WEConnect International can help.
