"1° Encontro das Empreendedoras Certificadas"
On September 10, 2014, Women Business Entrepreneurs (WBEs) in Brazil received a short workshop on Human Capital in companies in the growth stage led by Ann Williams -- a woman entrepreneur who grew her company from 3 to 160 employees in 5 years. Several of the attendees are in this phase or will enter it soon. Most of the WBEs met each other for the first time and exchanged ideas, contacts, accounting tips, and more. The program united the group under the WEConnect International name and created ‘ambassadors’ for WEConnect International in Brazil.
Brazilian WBOs network with corporate leaders at WEConnect International Forum
Sao Paulo – Over a hundred Brazilian women business owners gathered on April 7th for the 2nd Annual WEConnect International Forum to share experiences and network with corporate leaders.
“It is very inspiring for the thriving community of women business owners in Brazil to get the opportunity to interact directly with global corporate leaders,” said Jennifer Iverson, Executive Director for Brazil of WEConnect International.
The event, held at the Renaissance Hotel in Sao Paulo, was generously supported by the Rockefeller Foundation and Accenture, a WEConnect International corporate member.
Keynote speakers and participants stressed the role of corporations in the development and promotion of women’s economic empowerment. Elizabeth A. Vazquez, CEO of WEConnect International, got the discussion underway.
Representatives of Accenture, IBM, Marriott, Cummins, and Intel offered details of their purchasing processes in one panel, while another featured success stories of Brazilian women entrepreneurs. Johnson & Johnson and Pfizer were also represented at the event.
The forum in Brazil was the first of three that WEConnect International is holding in Latin America in the first part of 2014. The other events are scheduled for April 9th and April 11th in Santiago, Chile, and Lima, Peru, respectively.
