WEConnect International Presents 2022 Africa Regional Conference

Premier Networking Event for African Women Business Owners & Multinational Corporations

Nairobi, 18 May 2022–WEConnect International presents Africa’s premier virtual event for women business owners and multinational buyers from 18-19 May 2022: The Africa Regional Conference. Over 300 attendees will include member buyers, women business owners, government officials and partner organizations.

This year’s conference theme, Open for Business: Leveraging Technology and Transforming Trading Landscapes, will focus on how women business owners in Africa can grow their businesses on a global scale.

“Harnessing the power of procurement will change the gains of women-owned businesses, and WEConnect International’s Africa Regional Conference will equip women entrepreneurs with the tools they need to obtain and leverage yield increases,” said WEConnect International Africa Regional Director Margaret Mutheu.

The 2022 Africa Regional Conference promises to:

  • Provide unique, global networking opportunities powered through WECommunity—a an online portal that allows multinational buyers and women-owned businesses based in over 130 countries to network one-on-one or one-to-many.
  • Facilitate discussions around gender-inclusive sourcing and supplier diversity and inclusion.
  • Educate on how to leverage technology for scaling global business growth.

Data shows that deliberate action needs to be taken to ensure that women have access to a level playing field. In Kenya for example, 31.4 % of the licensed SMEs are owned by women as compared to 48% owned by men and 17% owned jointly by both men and women. The 2022 Africa Regional Conference and its unique global-scale networking and capacity-building opportunities are designed to help ensure women have an equal opportunity to grow a business through access to market knowledge and networks.

“WEConnect International regional events offer tremendous global opportunities for local women business owners, particularly in Africa where we serve a network of over 2,500 powerful growth-oriented women-owned businesses,” said WEConnect International CEO & Co-Founder, Elizabeth A. Vazquez.
