Throughout his 27-year career at Pfizer, he played a key role in implementing best-in-class strategies and driving operational excellence across procurement and manufacturingfunctions in Canada, Colombia, and the U.S. Most recently, as Vice President of Global Commercial & Strategic Services Procurement, he led a global team of over 100 professionals across 35+ countries. Under his leadership, his team consistently delivered value and impact across a $5 billion portfolio while strengthening partnerships with senior business leaders and key stakeholders.
With expertise in procurement and external supply management, negotiations, working capital optimization, and strategic planning, Juan Carlos has a proven track record of success in managing complex acquisitions, divestitures, and global alliances. His ability to drive supplier diversity, foster innovation, and lead high-performing teams has been instrumental in achieving business transformation. He is also skilled in risk and project management, is fluent in English
and Spanish, and is proficient in SAP, Ariba, data analytics, and payment systems, enabling him to navigate complex global operations effectively.
Beyond his professional achievements, Juan Carlos is deeply committed to fostering diversity and inclusion. From 2018 to 2021, he was a leadership member of Pfizer’s Enterprise Latino Community CRG, where he actively promoted and advanced LatinX culture within the company.
Additionally, throughout the last decade, he sponsored efforts to increase the participation of Women and Minority-Owned businesses in Pfizer’s supplier portfolio. Originally from Colombia, he began his career in manufacturing before transitioning into procurement leadership. He holds a Master’s in Business Administration, is a Certified Professional in Supply Management, and has a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.
