LOCAL CORPORATE MEMBER WESTPAC CREATES A MASTERCLASS TO HELP GROW WOMEN-OWNED BUSINESSES

Local Australasia corporate member, Westpac Banking Group, in association with WEConnect International, last month, presented its inaugural Women’s Masterclass with the theme Grow today. Build for tomorrow.

It was a most fitting theme as women make up approximately one third of all business owners in Australia.

Attended by 100 women business owners and several WEConnect International corporate members including key personnel from the various banking businesses which comprise the Westpac Banking Group, a contingent of over 300 participated in this dynamic and interactive event.

The first Masterclass seminar examined the foundations of a strong business – how to build innovation capabilities and financial nous. It also showcased inspirational businesses with a strong eye to the future. The second seminar gave consideration to building future business opportunities by connecting with corporate procurement specialists such as those from WEConnect corporate members – Westpac, Johnson& Johnson, Microsoft, Winx (previously Staples Australia), MSD, and Citigroup.

Westpac led a panel of procurement specialists that also included Johnson& Johnson, Microsoft, and Winx.  Anne Tesch, representing WEConnect International, offered advice and guidance in support of WEConnect certification. The opportunity for women business owners to practise business pitches concluded the event, with representatives from attendee WEConnect International corporate members giving valuable advice.

Networking drinks followed the conclusion of the program, and they were a fitting conclusion to a most informative and worthwhile afternoon.
