INTEL CORPORATION ORGANIZES SUPPLY CHAIN WORKSHOP FOR WOMEN ENTREPRENEURS IN PARTNERSHIP WITH WECONNECT INTERNATIONAL IN INDIA

On July 6, 2018, Intel Corporation, in partnership with WEConnect International in India, organized a Supply Chain Workshop for Women Entrepreneurs in New Delhi. The event showcased the commitment of Intel Corporation to support women-owned businesses in India with more than 25 women entrepreneurs in attendance.

Girish Kulkarni, Purchasing Manager, Greater Asia Region, Intel India, provided details on Intel procurement processes and compliance requirements and answered queries on how to become a supplier.

A special address was provided by Rajneesh Kumar, SVP & Head of Corporate Affairs, Walmart India, in which he provided insights on corporate procurement expectations, such as understanding consumers, competitive pricing, and scalability.

Two workshops were provided for the attendees:

Sapna Khandelwal, Company Secretary, Sapna Khandelwal & Associates, a WEConnect International certified Women’s Business Enterprise, led a session on Intellectual Property Rights and Renu Kohli, Growth and Brand Strategist at FNO Global, led a session on branding your business.

Krithika Ram, Program Manager, WEConnect India, then spoke about the purpose and vision of WEConnect International – to educate corporates as to why it is important to buy from women businesses and to provide market access opportunities and training for women businesses. She highlighted the fact that looking at current employment trends it is clear that India needs to support entrepreneurs. Krithika also discussed how women businesses that are 51% or more women-owned, managed and controlled can become a WEConnect International certified Women’s Business Enterprises and connect not only to corporates committed to buying from women but also to other women’s enterprises.

The event concluded with Payal Aggarwal, proud owner of Tranquilitea, and a WEConnect International certified Women’s Business Enterprise presenting on how her determination and her association with WEConnect International helped her achieve new heights within a year of establishing her business.
