WEConnect International corporate member Cummins is launching its Environmental Gateway later this month and looking for market ready innovations in the resource efficiency space – from both corporates and SMEs.

Cummins is a corporation of complementary business units that design, manufacture, distribute and service diesel and natural gas engines and related technologies including fuel systems, controls, air handling, filtration, emission solutions and electrical power generation systems. Head-quartered in Indiana in the US, Cummins currently employs 55,000 people worldwide and serves customers in approximately 190 countries and territories through a network of c600 distributor and c7,200 dealer locations. Cummins earned $1.4 billion on sales of $19.1 billion in 2015.

The Environmental Gateway programme aims to:

  • Reduce water, waste and energy consumption
  • Achieve Cummins’ 2020 environmental targets
  • Increase environmental innovation
  • Increase supplier inclusion
  • Reduce costs

The categories which Cummins are inviting innovation from suppliers are:

  • Technology to benchmark energy/water/waste performance
  • Compressors
  • Heating, ventilation and air conditioning
  • Moving packaging up the waste hierarchy
  • Implementation of on-site renewable energy
  • IT performance of manufacturing and office equipment
  • Reuse of waste heat and energy in test cell operations
  • Water consumption of welfare facilities
  • Any other innovations

The program will be officially launched on August 25 with proposals due by September 30.
