(WASHINGTON) WEConnect International is excited to announce that leading automaker BMW became a local corporate member representing Europe on July 1, 2016. BMW is the first automobile manufacturing company to expand supplier diversity and inclusion efforts beyond North America, and join WEConnect International’s impressive list of more than 70 corporate members dedicated to sourcing from women-owned companies.
“BMW’s commitment to supplier diversity represents the core values of WEConnect International,” said Michael Tobolski, Director of Corporate Relations at WEConnect International. “Our goal is to support their efforts in identifying qualified women-owned suppliers to improve their bottom line and help communities across Europe flourish.”
As a corporate member, BMW will be able to access WEConnect International’s unique network of women’s business enterprises (WBEs), while participating WBEs will now have the streamlined opportunity to bid for contracts with this European giant, creating unparalleled prospects for growth.
WEConnect International helps women-owned businesses succeed in global value chains. It identifies, educates, registers, and certifies women’s business enterprises based outside of the U.S. that are at least 51% owned, managed, and controlled by one or more women, and then connects them with qualified buyers.
