WECONNECT INTERNATIONAL WELCOMES GRETA SCHETTLER AS NEW VP

WEConnect International is delighted to announce the appointment of Ms. Greta Schettler as its new Vice President. Ms. Schettler, based in Washington, D.C., will head up global efforts to scale the rapidly growing organization, lead its executive management team, and develop the performance driven culture.

Commenting on the appointment, Elizabeth A. Vazquez, CEO and Co-Founder said, “We are thrilled to welcome Ms. Schettler as a member of our global team in this important new role. In our short six-year history we have grown our operations include more than 70 corporate members with over US$1 trillion in annual purchasing power and almost 6,000 women business owners in approximately 100 countries. Ms. Schettler’s leadership and ability to translate vision into results will be vital to strengthening our work connecting women business owners to global opportunities with multinational corporations.”

Ms. Schettler, a proven executive and entrepreneur, has a wealth of experience in designing and scaling efforts to advance women’s economic participation and entrepreneurship through development, trade, economic, and international business initiatives. Prior to joining WEConnect International, Ms. Schettler held various senior leadership roles both in the public and private sector over the last 15 years. Her most recent role was Senior Economic Policy Advisor in the Secretary’s Office of Global Women’s Issues for the U.S. Department of State under the leadership of both Secretary Clinton and Secretary Kerry. In that role, Ms. Schettler had the responsibility of elevating women’s economic participation as a U.S. foreign policy priority globally.

Ms. Schettler commented, “I am delighted to have the incredible opportunity to lead the expansion of WEConnect International’s global operations. My international experience working directly with the public and private sector to advance women’s entrepreneurship in many developed and developing countries, gives me a strong understanding of the challenges of the organization’s members. I have always been committed to the belief that we can bring about inclusive equitable societies and know that innovative organizations such as WEConnect International are critical to that process.”

WEConnect International (www.weconnectinternational.org) helps women-owned businesses succeed in global value chains. It identifies, educates, registers, and certifies women’s business enterprises based outside of the U.S. that are at least 51% owned, managed, and controlled by one or more women, and then connects them with qualified buyers.
