Eroshan Alagaretnam

Eroshan Alagaretnam is the Regional Director for South Asia at WEConnect International, where he leads the organization’s strategy, operations, partnerships, and program development across the region. He works closely with corporations, governments, development partners, and women-owned businesses to advance inclusive sourcing, strengthen entrepreneurial ecosystems, and create greater access to market opportunities.

With more than 20 years of experience in international development and private sector engagement, Eroshan has supported small and medium-sized enterprises across diverse markets and value chains in South Asia. A central focus of his work has been strengthening the capacity of women-owned and other growing businesses and connecting them with corporate and international markets to help them scale, become more competitive, and access new business opportunities.

Throughout his career, Eroshan has managed large-scale public-private partnerships and development programs and led research, evaluation, and advisory assignments across South Asia and the Pacific. His experience includes work with bilateral development agencies, including U.S. Department of State, USAID, WBG, DFID and DFAT; UN agencies such as UNDP, UNICEF, UNWFP, and UNFAO; and international NGOs. His areas of expertise include SME development, public-private partnerships, inclusive sourcing, livelihoods, microfinance, agriculture, research and program evaluations.

Eroshan holds an MBA from London Metropolitan University, Master’s degree in Regional Development and Planning from the University of Colombo and a Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences.
