Alicia Sierra has been Program Manager for WEConnect International in Mexico since 2012. In this role, she has designed strategies to connect Mexican women-owned businesses with multinational corporate buyers to strengthen inclusion and diversity in global value chains. As a collaborator of WEConnect International, she enables business connections and provides training and mentoring for Mexican businesswomen and corporate members. Passionate about helping women–owned business in Mexico take better advantage of their business opportunities, she has supported the development of a dynamic and diverse business network that can respond to the demands of the international market.
During more than 30 years of her professional career, she has held highly responsible positions in the Mexican government, both in the Ministry of the Economy and in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. During those years, she gained ample experience in foreign trade policy, particularly in coordinating and assisting during the negotiation, implementation and follow-up of the various Free Trade Agreements, such as NAFTA, TLCUEM, EFTA and G3 to name a few. She also had the opportunity to participate in various international forums, particularly in the organization and coordination of Mexican delegations in international trade promotion, such as the one organized by the World Economic Forum.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Relations from Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM).
