Milena Radakovic of Nexus Exhibits

We caught up with Certified WBE Milena Radakovic of Nexus Exhibits.

How long have you been in business and why did you start?
Our company has been in business since 1979. I was a client for over 2 years then joined as an employee and took over as the owner in 2013.

What’s your go-to Elevator Pitch?
Started in 1979, Nexus Exhibits has grown to be the premier Canadian provider of innovative, enhanced visual branding solutions for exhibits, events and environments. Our complete set of services alleviate all concern and inconvenience for our clients by providing a one-stop experience for all display needs, including award-winning design, custom fabrication, in-house printing, installation, maintenance, shipping and warehouse storage. With our ‘Nexus Essentials’ line, we offer everything from brochure printing to  branded apparel and giveaways. We have now expanded our full-services with ‘Nexus Decor’ offering signage to fixtures and permanent displays that market company brands for retail and corporate environments.

Which geographical areas do you service?
All of Canada and we’re now expanding into the US. We also service clients overseas who have conferences and tradeshows in Canada and the US. For example, we have clients from Europe, Australia, Middle East and many other countries. Our head office is in Calgary, Alberta, and we have satellite offices in Edmonton, Winnipeg and Toronto.

How long has your organization been certified with WEConnect International?
We have been certified for 2 years and are now renewing for the 3rd year.

What are the benefits of this network and of certification?
I have enjoyed attending  both the WEConnect International and WBENC Conference for the last 2 years. It’s been wonderful to meet amazing women entrepreneurs and to share experiences and learn from each other.

What 3 tips do you have for women entrepreneurs?
Follow your passion, be diligent, take risks! Canadian entrepreneurs need to think globally and think outside of Canada. There are numerous opportunities abroad and we just need to take the risks, like men do.

Any big plans or announcements you’d like to share?
At Nexus we are always looking at not only adding additional branding solutions, but also expanding into other areas in Canada with partners. So if there is an interest, please reach out to me.  Last year I was appointed the Canadian Ambassador to WEDO – Women’s Entrepreneurship Day Organization, and with the support of my board we were able to get November 19th proclaimed in the Province of Alberta as Women’s Entrepreneurship Day. We currently have three Global  Ambassadors in Calgary, Edmonton and Winnipeg and this year I will be working on adding additional Ambassador across Canada. In addition I’m working hard and getting close to get a Canada wide proclamation of November 19th!!
