INTEL HOSTS A ‘MEET THE MEMBER’ EVENT FOR WOMEN’S BUSINESS ENTERPRISES

On 8 August 2017 a unique Intel event in Johannesburg drew an audience comprising Intel customers and suppliers, as well as certified women’s business enterprises of WEConnect International in South Africa. This special occasion was arranged by Deaneesha Govender, Intel Commodity Manager for Sales and Marketing. Diversity and inclusion are important to Intel and this session was a continuation of the commitment Intel has in reaching and growing women.

This was a first-of-its-kind marketing opportunity for 46 of WEConnect International in South Africa’s women business owners to meet some 56 Intel managers, customers and first tier suppliers, including Microsoft, Dell, Cisco and others.

Panel discussions and lively audience engagement highlighted exciting opportunities for and new ways in which women business owners could achieve improved business access with Ms. Videsha Proothveerajh, Intel Country Manager for South Africa gave a talk about the Vortex of Change: The Digital Transformation.  Videsha and Deaneesha were joined by Nerina Naik, IT Executive from Standard Bank and Charmaine Houvet, Public Policy Director Africa from Cisco for a panel on Diversity- How it adds to your bottom line.

The event was coordinated by Thanthi Sepeng of Rève Productions’, a women’s business enterprise, who is an Intel service provider.

Deaneesha said, “What a wonderful experience to see how well our audience connected and shared valuable experiences and lessons. I see great potential and opportunities for women’s business enterprises in their interactions with Intel’s customers and suppliers.”
