Within the framework of the panel “Stimulating the Growth of Women’s Businesses in Latin America with the Support of the Private Sector” WEConnect International presented the preliminary results of the study supported by Canada’s International Development Research Centre (IDRC) on November 24th, 2016 as part of the WEConnect International Annual Forum. Additional sponsors of the forum included Intel and ExxonMobil, and the event featured a meet the member event and a matchmaking event.
The event was opened by Mauricio Ruiz, President of Intel in Brazil and Stephane Larue, General Consul of Canada in Brazil. The panel was moderated by Erika Zoeller Veras from Business Professional Women SP, who shared results of a similar study carried out by the women entrepreneur’s network RME.
The main topics discussed during the panel included total revenues generated by women-owned businesses, access to finance and credit, number of employees, and sourcing from women-owned businesses. Overall, the panel contributed to create awareness among women owned business in Latin America and Brazil and it allowed a fruitful discussion with stakeholders from different backgrounds.
