WEConnect International in Europe opens doors to new supply chains. Led by corporate members, it certifies firms in the United Kingdom and Ireland that are at least 51% owned, managed and controlled by women and connects them with the growing global demand from corporations and the public sector for diverse and innovative suppliers. The organization partners with corporations, associations, governments, women entrepreneurs and their supporters, and is affiliated with a global certification network for women-owned enterprises.

When Amanda Shaw started WiFi Solutions (UK) Limited two years ago, she was loathe to approach large companies. Before long, however, she was talking with the likes of M&S and Tesco. ‘I’m not afraid of approaching anyone, any more... I go straight to the top!’ she says.

A group of multinational companies is backing a new government initiative aimed at reducing the barriers to female entrepreneurs securing large corporate contracts.

Leading multinational corporations and diversity champions celebrated the official launch of WEConnect at a high profile event in the House of Commons this month.
