Mission

WEConnect India delivers the leading international certification standard for women's business enterprises.  We bring together the growing corporate and public sector demand for diverse supply chains with certified women's business enterprises that have been educated on member needs.

 

Support

WEConnect International is a global network of women's business enterprise certification organizations that is helping to incubate WEConnect India so that businesses in India can benefit from this growing network.  NASSCOM is the Principal Partner, along with several India women business owner associations helping to launch WEConnect India.

 

Global Certification Standard

WEConnect International defines a certified women's business enterprise (WBE) as a company that is 51% owned, managed and controlled by one or more women.  WEConnect India will apply these same standards in its certification efforts.

 

WEConnect India Status

WEConnect India will be launched at the NASSCOM Diversity and Inclusivity Summit this 8-9 December in Bangalore, following a strategy session on 7 December.  Based on information in North America and Europe, we estimate that Indian women owned businesses comprise less than 5% of suppliers to the corporate and public sector.  The result is that women’s businesses don’t grow, big business misses out on value and innovation and national productivity and GDP suffer.

 

Capacity Building

Beyond certification, WEConnect India helps women entrepreneurs focus on growth and development.  Many women are not aware of the markets open to their businesses including corporate markets, government markets and global markets.  Part of the WEConnect value proposition is to help women business owners increase their capacity to network and scale up their operations.
